Piccabeen Lawn reopens

Dec 21, 2022 | Featured, Garden Journal

The Gardens volunteers are delighted to announce that the Piccabeen Lawn is fully restored and open to our visitors again.

The Lawn was closed during May for a “special event” that destroyed the grass. The volunteers knew in advance of the effect that would be caused by the event and were adequately compensated.

After a great deal of planning, negotiation and work – often delayed by lack of materials and resources – the lawn is now completely renewed with a section to the west featuring stamped and specially coloured concrete to protect the area from flooding that has so often damaged the area.
