The team at Tamborine Mountain Regional Botanic Gardens is celebrating the success of their 40th Anniversary Open Day on Sunday, May 28, held in bright sunshine.
The event coincided with the annual Australasia-wide Botanic Gardens Open Day.
The main activity was a special plant sale prepared by the Gardens’ legendary Potty Potters. Head Potter Bobby White said the response from plant enthusiasts was fantastic.
Visitors were also treated throughout the morning to music, a sausage sizzle and events for children in Sooty Owl’s Creekside Trail.
The Gardens team also proudly hosted a special visitor. Alfred Briers had donated a beautiful oil-on-board still life painting by his late wife Barbara for the team to raise funds. After two weeks of enthusiastic ticket purchases, Mr Briers drew the winning ticket that belonged to former Gardens volunteer and manager Roger Lenehan.
The day of celebration raised more than $2,000 for the Gardens.
